Connect to recent alumni of your high school. Learn about college and career from real college students and young professionals through online and offline mentoring. Gain access to their network of contacts to meet people in the positions you want to be in someday. Be a leader on campus by using what you learn to develop your school’s college-going culture. Apply to be a mentee at your high school as part of the BetterGrads Program.

BetterGrads offers an effective and time-efficient mentoring opportunity for high school students to connect with college students and young professionals who once attended their school. The program cycle is one-year. The cost of the program for schools, students, and other participants is free.

As a Mentee, you will have the opportunity to gain access to an invaluable network of knowledge and connections that will help you reach your college and career-going aspirations. You are expected to “pay-it-forward” by serving as a peer mentor to your classmates and helping to build the college-going culture at your school. You commit to regular communications with your Mentor, understood as the following:

• At least one e-mail exchange per week with your Mentor
• At least one phone call or video chat per month with your Mentor
• Be available for at least one site visit per year by your Mentor
• At least one group meeting per month with other Mentees
• Active participation in this program for at least one year

To be eligible for this program, all Mentees must agree to the terms and conditions in the Program Brochure [pdf], complete the online Mentee Agreement Form, and print-out and return the Parent / Legal Guardian Consent Form [pdf] to the BetterGrads on-site program coordinator at your high school.
