BetterGrads Website, Version 2.0
BetterGrads has grown significantly since the summer of 2007, when Kevin and a few friends first recognized the disconnect between current high school students and recent alumni, and delivered a series of five free college-focused presentations to local parents and students at the Livermore Area Recreation Center.
Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for BetterGrads. We are delighted to announce the launch of our re-designed website. The streamlined, informative, resource-rich interface supports our raison d’être: to empower students for success and create sustainable college-going cultures at their high schools by connecting them to recent alumni.
With the launch of our pilot eMentoring program in September involving 22 students at Granada High School in Livermore, with over 2000 students served through eMentoring and in-person college Q&A panels, and with 200 articles in our College 101 Blog, we needed much more than a blog-based website. We are currently courting larger grantmakers and applying to programs like Echoing Green, and our website needs to do its part to reflect the vision, energy, and professionalism with which we are moving forward.
Meet one of our phenomenal mentors, and learn why they serve. Follow our progress and gain access to our latest updates by subscribing to our news alerts and visiting our press page. On our new site, high school students are able to read articles and personal stories on how college students picked their college, financed their education, and juggled schoolwork and life, written by our great Social Media Team and numerous contributors. Learn about the BetterGrads Program: why we believe our model is sustainable and capable of transforming communities from the inside, and how to reconnect alumni at your high school through BetterGrads.
In short, the website is us, and we are moving quickly. Stay tuned, send us your feedback, and get involved today. We want to put sustainable college-going cultures in every Bay Area public high school in the next five years. We can do it together.
Best regards,
Kevin and Erhardt
