Summer Vacation, College Tour-style
Woohoo! It’s that time of year again…hitting the beach, hanging out with friends in the extended daylight, weekend BBQs…and college tours galore. Summer is when many rising high school seniors and their parents pack in a number of college tours. While the freedom of summer vacation makes this a logical time to hit up some campuses, the mad rush from quad to quad can also be a little overwhelming. Some tips from the experts:
- USNews reporters visited 36 campuses so that you don’t have to (or at least to give you a head start).
- Josh Johnson, former campus tour guide and admissions office staffer at St. Lawrence University, shares his insights on a Washington Post blog.
- College counselors so dedicated, they hit the trails to see colleges and share their expert insight. Wow!
- One dad, three kids, twenty-three campuses visited. Lots of advice.
My advice? Stay hydrated, take notes, and make time for non-campus sightseeing if your tours take you somewhere fun–after all, it’s still summer!
