Education Budget Cuts + Career Center Reductions = A Dangerous Equation for College Prep
Interaction between college students and high school students is desperately needed, especially in my home state of California. $5.2 billion dollars has been cut from the education budget this year. Career centers have been cut back 40 percent. Even before these reductions, California spent $500 less per-pupil than the national average and had the worst counselor to student ratio in the nation. Without the resources they need, how will California’s public high school students prepare for college?
